Eulàlia Xavier Comas (they/she) is a multi-disciplinary theater artist and educator based in Brooklyn, NY with roots in Barcelona and PA’s Susquehanna Valley. She is a director, designer, writer, and steward of storytelling processes and she tells stories about people who invent words and worlds for survival.

They are the School Partnerships Co-Program Manager at Girl Be Heard!, managing a combined total of 8 after-school arts-based curricular residencies. They are also the Production Fellow at OBIE-award winning experimental theater The Brick Theater, where, in the words of Artistic Director Theresa Buchheister, she served “a pivotal role in [the theater’s] OBIE-winning year.” She is also a founding co-curator of the website Staff Picks, a community-building platform for shorter-run shows and live events in the NYC area (for which she also built and maintains the website).

Laia’s work (or her performing body) has been presented or developed at Riverstage Theater Company, STC, The Performing Garage, The Brick Theater, 92 Theater, Wesleyan Center for the Arts, Pear Tree Alley Theater, Mariah’s Garden @ Pear Tree Alley Theater, asynchronously on Zoom, Olin Memorial Library, La Mama Galleria, The Tank, The Vino Theater, Theater Row, and The Workshop Theater. She was a Winter Resident Artist 2023 with Uncool Artists.

As a composer, she was nominated for Best Original Music at QIFF for the short film “A Month Apart” (Reformat Studios, 2020), and their debut soundtrack album is out this year for the film “Understory” (Reformat Studios, 2022). They graduated from Wesleyan University with a degree in Religion and currently reside in Bushwick with her cat Auggie (short for Pre-Agrarian Society).
